Gianluca Vialli, former Chelsea star, wins battle over pancreatic cancer

Former Chelsea striker Gianluca Vialli can now heave a sigh of relief after being cleared of all cancer-related illnesses around him.
The 55-year-old who spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge was said to have battled pancreatic cancer for about 17 months.
According to Sky Sport, the ex-Blues and Watford managers admitted in 2019 that he was back in the race to defeat the deadly disease - months after declaring himself wholesome from the same illness.

The publication reports that Vialli who played for Chelsea, Juventus, and Sampdoria's latest test shows no sign of the illness following two cycles of chemotherapy treatment.
During his reign at the Stamford Bridge, he won on FA Cup, one EFL Cup and also a UEFA Winners' Cup between 1997 to 1999.
He became the first-ever Italian to manage a Premier League club after his appointment on a player-boss basis - replacing Ruud Gullit at the club in February 1998.

With just two years in charge of the Blues, Vialli led his team to FA Cup triumph in 2000, but could not survive more than five games into the next season.
His employers parted ways with him and brought countryman Claudio Ranieri. He then went ahead to manager Watford in the 2001/2 season.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Peter Bonetti has passed on at the age of 78 after losing a long battle with illness.
The former Chelsea and England goalkeeper who was nicknamed 'The Cat' played 729 games for the Blues making him the second-highest of all time.
He was part of England's 1966 World Cup-winning side but only managed to play seven times for the Three Lions.
Bonetti helped Chelsea win the League Cup in 1965, the FA Cup in 1970 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1971.
