Funke Akindele, husband defend hosting birthday party amidst coronavirus spread

Funke Akindele and her husband, JJC Skillz have taken to their social media page to react after Nigerians bashed them for holding a party in the midst of a lockdown.

In a live video, Funke Akindele's husband decided to take a walk around the estate while explaining that all those who attended the party are living in the Amen Estate with them and not from outside.

JJC Skillz further added that Eniola Badmus was quarantined in the estate for 14 days after her arrival from the UK and she had shown no symptoms of coronavirus.

He said: “Everyone that came to the party have been in the estate for months. Eniola Badmus quarantined in one of the houses her and after 14 days, she showed no symptoms.”

He went on to show the house of Naira Marley and comedian Akpororo to prove that nobody from outside the estate attended the party. And noted that they were to shoot a movie when the lockdown was announced.

Funke Akindele on her own part took to her Twitter handle to react to Nigerians bashing. She wrote: "Thanks for the love guys!!! We all have been together for over two weeks. We are safe and take all precautions. Amen Estate is home for all."

Recall Legit.ng had reported that Nigerians are not happy with Funke Akindele-Bello and husband, JJC Skillz, for hosting a house party to celebrate his birthday party on Saturday, April 4, when Lagos state was supposed to be on total lockdown because of the rampaging deadly disease, coronavirus.

The celebrity couple decided to throw a house party that had quite a number of guests in attendance, including controversial Nigerian singer, Naira Marley, Funke's best friend, Eniola Badmus.

The couple's actions have caused a stir on social media, Twitter, with many people expressing their disappointment in the couple for engaging in such a thing amid the crisis going on in the country and the world at large.

Some were even more disappointed in Funke Akindele because she was one of the ambassadors used by NCDC to create awareness about the deadliness of coronavirus and how to curb its spread. Some are even asking that all guests of the Bellos at the birthday party should be quarantined while some are asking that they should be arrested.
