COVID-19: Bauchi state confirms 3rd case of viral disease
- A 55-year-old man in Bauchi has tested positive for coronavirus

The Bauchi state government on Tuesday, March 31, confirmed that one person (55- year- old man) has tested positive for coronavirus.
The news was confirmed by the deputy state governor, Baba Tela, as he briefed journalists on the situation of the virus. Tela is also the chairman of the task force committee on COVID-19 in the state, The Nation reports.
The new development brings the total number of cases in Bauchi to three.
This is coming just a few hours after the governor, Bala Mohammed, ordered a total lockdown of the state as a drastic measure to tackle the spread of the disease.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Mohammed went into self-isolation after it was established that he had contact with the son of former vice president Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku's son, whose name was not mentioned, tested positive for coronavirus after returning to the country amid COVID-19 scare.
Disclosing the development in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday night, March 22, Atiku said the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has been duly informed about the situation.
The former vice president also added that his son had been moved to the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital in Abuja for treatment.

Atiku had recently advised the federal government to restrict flights from nations with a high prevalence of the coronavirus plague, following the discovery of index case of the disease in Lagos state.
Former director-general of Radio Nigeria, Ladan Salihu, made the announcement via his Twitter handle on Monday, March 23.
"Our governor Bala Mohammed in self-isolation following contact with Atiku Abubakar's Son. Yes. We were on the same flight from Lagos to Abuja.
"They shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. The Gov and the rest of us have taken tests. The results will be negative in sha Allah," he said.
