Coronavirus: Ganduje declares one-day fast in Kano

- Governor Ganduje has declared a one-day fast in Kano state over the deadly coronavirus pandemic

- The Kano state governor urged the citizens and residents of the state to observe the fast on Monday, March 30

- Ganduje said his administration will put more measures in place to ensure the safety of the citizens

As Nigeria's confirmed coronavirus cases hit 111, the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared one-day fasting and prayer to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

The Cable reports that the Kano state governor said on Sunday, March 29, asked residents of the state to observe the fast on Monday, March 30.

Legit.ng gathers that Governor Ganduje said prayer is the best fire against the spread of coronavirus in the state.

He also gave an assurance that the his administration will put more measures in place to ensure the safety of the citizens.

“I call on Kano people to observe fast tomorrow, (Monday) 30th March, and 5th Sha’aban and pray hard against the outbreak of coronavirus in our dear state," he said.

The Kano state governor said he has set up a committee to raise money for people in a bit to cushion the effects of the virus on the economy.

“I also call on people to intensify prayers because prayer is the best fire for this disease. While we are putting effort into taking preventive and curative measures against the coronavirus pandemic, there are some groups of people who cannot earn a living, who must go out to fend for their families,” he said.

Ganduje also asked retired health workers in Kano to help the state fight the virus.

Meanwhile, in a bid to fight against the spread of the deadly coronavirus ravaging the world, Governor Ganduje has also flagged off a special fumigation exercise of the state.

Ganduje disclosed this during the monthly sanitation exercise on Saturday, March 28, at the Government House.

He said that the fumigation would particularly be in worship places, markets, hospitals, motor parks, and major roads.

He said: “This is a start-up exercise of sanitizing our environment because we are fighting this pandemic from all angles.”

In another report, popular Nigerian musician, Davido, has shared a very touching message with his son on Instagram where he said the family is keeping strong for mama.

The mama in the message refers to Chioma and the message is not unconnected to her health status as she tested positive for coronavirus.

In the said picture, Davido held their son up as he struck a kissing pose with him, puckering his mouth and planting it on his side cheek.
