Coronavirus: Abba Kyari confirms contracting COVID-19

Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to the president on Sunday, March 29, confirmed that he had tested positive for coronavirus.

Kyari in a statement published through the twitter handle of the presidency, @NGRPresident, said he was proceeding to Lagos on Sunday for further tests based on medical advice.

The chief of staff noted that he was feeling well and pointed out that he was yet to experience any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19.

Kyari said he had made personal arrangements to treat himself to avoid further burdening the public health system which faces so many pressures.

He said he has been working from home and expressed the hope of being at his desk soon.

He thanked Nigerian medical professionals who are working across the country to combat the pandemic.

Kyari also urged Nigerians to remain calm and maintain good hygiene by wash hands and staying at home if necessary.

Meanwhile, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, says on Sunday, March 29, that the current COVID-19 outbreak ravaging the world will end soon.

Premium Times reports that the respected man of God said only those “whose time has come” will die of the coronavirus disease.

Legit.ng notes that over 600, 000 persons across the world have been infected with over 25,000 deaths recorded so far.

Pastor Adeboye who addressed his congregants via a live broadcast on a topic, ‘Peace, be still’, said only those whose time had come would lose their lives to the current plague.

In another news report, the federal government has evacuated stranded staff of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) who had been drafted to Brazzaville, the Republic of Congo, to undergo a special capacity building course with the World Health Organization (WHO).

The medical team, according to the Nigerian ambassador to the Republic of the Congo, Deborah Iliya, were on a training programme to expand their frontiers of knowledge as regards the management of coronavirus for their prompt deployment to the country.

She said that the medical team had been stranded following the closure of air and land borders by Congo Brazzaville in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus.
