Abba Kyari, President Muhammadu Buhari's chief of staff, has reportedly gone on self-isolation after testing positive to coronavirus (Covid-19).

Legit.ng earlier reported that Kyari tested positive to the fast-spreading infection after returning from Germany on March 14.

The president's chief of staff was reported to have attended a meeting on Saturday, March 21, in Aso Rock where he began to cough repeatedly and thereafter surrendered himself for testing.

Since the confirmation of his Covid-19 status, Kyari has gone on self-isolation for treatment, though Daily Sun reports that he self-isolated himself in his home instead of Isolation Centre in Gwagwalada.

Kyari's case, according to the publication, has reportedly plunged Aso Rock into fear considering his closeness to the president and his influence in decision making.

Although President Buhari tested negative after his test on Monday night, March 23, Kyari's situation has sent cold water into the spine of officials at the Aso-Rock.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has now directed those with established contact with the chief of staff to self-isolate.

Family members and aides to Kyari and journalists who report stories from Aso Rock were also advised to go on self-isolation.
