The coronavirus pandemic is obviously a global issue and many countries in the world have taken steps to curb the menace including the cancellation of big world entertainment and sport events.

However, some people still do not consider the virus a serious threat and they continue to live their daily lives without stopping activities that would promote social distancing.

Most of Europe's top leagues had postponed matches until April while some countries cancelled games indefinitely. But matches were played across various centres in the Turkish Super Lig and Mikel reportedly told his coach he does not want to feature in their weekend home game against Istanbul Basaksehir.

After the news of Obi’s terminated contract hit social media, a number of people took it with mixed reactions. While some understood and praised the footballer, others criticised him.

Mikel Obi’s partner, Olga Allegra, has taken to social media to defend her husband and slam a troll who talked down on the footballer.

Olga wrote: “You are vile, but My man is a Hero. Family over everything. Good friends show their love in times of trouble, not just in times of happiness. — Euripides.

Thank you Trabzonspor fans that understand and for those who don’t, I’m sorry, but family first no matter what.”
