Abayomi on Saturday, February 29, noted that the patient has not developed new symptoms. The commissioner while giving an update on the deadly disease at the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, in Lagos called for a stop in spreading unverified information about the situation in the state.
He reiterated the Lagos state government’s commitment to protecting citizen’s health.
Abayomi went on to note that in the next two to three days another test will be conducted for the patient to be sure that there were no more virus particles in his saliva.
He added that once there is no more virus, the patient would be released back into society very soon.
However, the commission stated he couldn't give a specific number of people that have been quarantined, adding that the number keeps increasing.
The Italian who was tested positive to the disease in Lagos also visited Ogun state. The Italian who was confirmed positive to the virus on Thursday, February 27, had also visited Ewekoro in Ewekoro local government area in Ogun state.
The state's commissioner of health, Tomi Coker, on Friday, February 28, however, assured the residents and visitors in the state not to panic.
