Giadom urged party members to ignore a notice by some party chieftains which declared the March 17 emergency NEC meeting illegal.

He said as the acting national secretary of the APC, he had the constitutional power to steer activities of the party since he was the most senior party official in charge.

Meanwhile, it appears President Muhammadu Buhari has taken a decision to step in and find a lasting solution to the crisis rocking the APC.

The crisis is threatening Adams Oshiomhole's position as national chairman of the ruling party. He was restrained by a court order during the week to stop parading himself as APC chairman.

A reliable source who spoke to The Nation said Buhari, the leader of the party, has raised a three-man team to liaise with those who are aggrieved with the national chairman of the APC, Oshiomhole.

There are indications also that the president might ask the National Caucus of the party to lend a helping hand in resolving the crisis.

According to the source, who spoke in confidence, Buhari and his kitchen cabinet are not pleased that his administration is being distracted by the crisis over the fate of the embattled APC national chairman.

The anonymous source expressed optimism that the leaders of the party will be able to reach a compromise that will see the end of the crisis before the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) capitalizes on it.

In another news report, the end of the road may be near for Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as governors on the platform of the APC have asked the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party to immediately replace him to fill the vacuum created by his suspension.

The governors through the Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Salihu Lukman, on Friday, March 6 asked Oshiomhole to quit.

Governor Godwin Obaseki's foot soldiers in the Edo chapter of the party had gotten Oshiomhole suspended from his ward in Etsako West local government area of the state.
