Bayelsa PDP fabricating lies against Sylva, Oshiomhole, says APC
- The APC has cautioned the Bayelsa state chapter of the PDP against some of its inflammatory statements in recent times
- The party specifically accused the PDP of carrying out unprovoked attacks on the minister of state for petroleum resources, Chief Timipre Sylva
- The APC said its national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has also been subjected to a campaign of calumny by the PDP
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to call its Bayelsa state spokesperson to order and stop fabricating lies against its leaders.
The APC also called on the security agencies to note the lies being peddling by Godspower Keku, who is the secretary of the Bayelsa state chapter of the PDP.
The APC's deputy national publicity secretary, Mr Yekini Nabena, said the caution becomes necessary because of some unguarded statements made by Keku recently.
Nabena in a statement sent to journalists on Tuesday, March 3 said the comments by the PDP scribe are capable of inflaming tensions in the state after the controversial verdict by the Supreme Court.
He said unprovoked attacks on the minister of state for petroleum resources, Chief Timipre Sylva and the APC national leadership by the Bayelsa PDP chieftain are uncalled for.
He said PDP Bayelsa scribe had made some accusations recently against Sylva and the national chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole regarding the emergence of David Lyon and Degi.
His words: “I strongly urge the PDP in Bayelsa state not to take for granted the 352,552 electorates who voted overwhelmingly for their governorship choice by making insensitive and infuriating statements.
“In the interest of peace and the development of Bayelsa, we have appealed to our supporters and members to be peaceful and accept the ruling. The Bayelsa PDP's attempt to stir the hornets' nest and further infuriate Bayelsans is ill-thought, careless and reckless.”

Meanwhile, two weeks after the governor-elect of Bayelsa state, David Lyon, and his deputy were sacked from office, Sylva, who is the APC leader in Bayelsa, said he has been in touch with Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo because the sacked deputy governorship candidate is at the verge of committing suicide.
The minister made the comment while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Monday, March 2.
He described the apex court's ruling on the Bayelsa gubernatorial election as unfair, adding that the matter should have been treated as a criminal case.
