- Olaniyi Ogunsoro, the rogue police officer involved in the death of Remo Stars footballer, has been dismissed
- The rogue police officer will soon be prosecuted after his disengagement proceedings were finalised
- The IGP has also reportedly called for the immediate disbandment of all offices of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS)
The Nigeria Police Force has reportedly dismissed Inspector Olaniyi Ogunsoro, the officer who was involved in the death of Tiamiyu Kazeem, a young footballer with Remo Star football club in Ogun state.
Channels TV reports that the dismissal of Ogunsoro was recommended by the assistant inspector general of police after his trial by the Ogun state police command.
Legit.ng gathers that the rogue police officer will soon be prosecuted after his disengagement proceedings were finalised.
Recall that the police in Ogun state on Saturday, February 22, confirmed Kazeem's death and ordered the arrest of the officer was involved in his death.
Nigerians on social media have been reacting to the dismissal of the officer as they asked that he must also be prosecuted.
Evangelist Henry Utonwanne said on Facebook: "That is not punishment. He should be prosecuted and if found guilty should spend the rest of his life in prison."
Thomason E. Danladi said: "Dismissing him is not enough take him to court for proper justice....Reason why this is happening is that when a police officer do something wrong the authorities don't prosecute such person according to the law....So others will assume nothing will happen"
Ikemba Kamalu commented: "I read only one officer was dismissed. First of all, they where a team. The other officers if not directly involved, acted as accomplices because they gave a false information about the incident. And to the IG and NPF at large. These extra judicial killing is too much! The IG obviously lack ideas on how to curtail this menace. Sack have never dithered the officers. I think the mental health of these men should be checked prior to recruitment, and should be evaluated yearly."

Eduozor Obi Augustine said: "That's not the solution,...The Police need a Reformation because most of them don't know the Laws they are executing or citizens they are protecting or not even to recite the National Anthem... The Country Police structure is in a dead & really needs to be revived or these dead & harassment case will continue."
Meanwhile, to the joy and immense relief of many Nigerians, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, has called for the immediate disbandment of all offices of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
