Buratai expresses confidence troops will defeat B'Haram in no distant time

- Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have been hailed for their recent successes recorded in the fight against insurgency

- As a result of this, the army chief has expressed confidence that the troops will defeat the terrorists soon

- Buratai's confidence in total victory has been rekindled by the efforts of the gallant troops

Following several victories and defeat inflicted on Boko Haram and ISWAP groups, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has expressed confidence in the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD).

Buratai in a statement by Colonel Sagir Musa, the acting director of Army public relations on Friday, February 21, congratulated all the gallant officers and soldiers serving in the command.

In the message shared on the Nigerian Army's Facebook page, Buratai praised the troops and their commanders for the display of courage and patriotism that led to the decimation of the leadership and ranks of Boko Haram insurgents and their affiliate ISWAP in various parts of the theatre.

He declared that the troops were defeating the terrorists and ending the war against insurgency would happen very soon.

Buratai also expressed his confidence that troops in the northeast have ended Boko Haram insurgents before and would do it again without the support of foreign troops.

He said: "I am more confident now than ever before with your current robust posture that you will end the BHT/ISWAP menace in no distance time."

Buratai went on to assure the soldiers of his continued support and stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is proud of their accomplishments. He added that the president would continue to provide the needed support for the troops to enable them to do more.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Buratai in what can be described as a deserved reward promoted three soldiers for their outstanding performance. The soldiers are men of Operation Lafiya Dole who are fighting against insurgency.

They were promoted to the next rank when the Army boss visited their camp on Sunday, February 16. The three soldiers, Felix Ugwu, Kehinde Goban, and Ishaq Yesif are serving at Super Camp 3 in Buratai, Biu local government area of Borno state.

In a related development, the Nigerian military had been urged to change its strategy in the fight against terrorism in the northeastern part of the country. Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state, gave this advice while speaking at a meeting with President Buhari at the palace of Abubakar Elkanemi, Shehu of Borno.
