Curbing insecurity: Gov Emmanuel makes case for good parenting in Akwa Ibom

- Governor Udom Emmanuel has made a case for good parenting in Akwa Ibom state

- The governor stated this will help in curbing insecurity in the state and beyond

- Governor Emmanuel said there are so many absentee parents in the name of civilization

Governor Udom Emmanuel has said that the fight to curb insecurity and violent crimes in the country can be won if parents give their children quality time.

The governor who emphasized on the role of good parenting as the panacea of an orderly society stated this during a thanksgiving service held in honour of his father, Late Elder Gabriel Nkanang, in Awa Iman, Onna local government area of Akwa Ibom state on Sunday, February 16.

His words: “The only problem we are having in our society is poor parenting, if parents can spend time with their children the way our parents spent time with us, we will not have the kind of society we are having today.

The thanksgiving service which was conducted by Qua Iboe church, attracted dignitaries across political parties, private sector, social groups and religious leaders.

Recall that prominent Nigerians from all walks of life visited Onna local government area of Akwa Ibom state as the funeral rites of Elder Nkanang was held.

Among those who attended the event were Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, former presidents Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan.
