Military chiefs: PDP group alleges governor, successor promoting insurgency

- A group on Saturday, February 15, condemned the rising insurgents' attacks in Borno state

- The group alleged that the leaders in the state are responsible for the attacks by insurgencies and the call for the sack of the military chiefs

- According to the group, the security challenges in Borno state these are local

The PDP Conservative Vanguard has condemned the growing spate of insurgency in the northeast, especially in Borno state.

The PDP Conservative Vanguard alleged that the rising activities of insurgency in the state can not be disconnected with the governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum, and his immediate predecessor Kashim Shetimma

In a press statement signed by the secretary-general of the group, Bolu John, called on the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to look inwards to know the identity and sponsors of the Boko Haram group in Borno state. 

Also, calling on the presidency to desist being economical with the truth on the those involved in the financing of insurgents in Nigeria, Bolu said security challenges in the state these are local.

Bolu said: “The PDP conservative forum wishes to state that the security challenges experienced in Borno state is indeed local, and questions must be asked as to the sincerity of heart and purpose of the political leadership in Borno state."

"The accusations pointed in the direction of the opposition PDP is at most uncharitable and a plot to call a dog a bad name to hang it," Bolu said.

He said the All Progressives Congress must come to terms with the starkness of reality to know that the beneficiaries of the Boko Haram war are indeed the political leadership in Borno state that has been hiding under the guise of insurgency to improvise the people.

“It is also instructive to note that the APC in Borno State is populated by Boko Haram members from the government to the last member of the party because, as they say, politics is indeed local," he said.

The group further said that the PDP should be consequently spared from the insincerity of members of the APC that loathes the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari in addressing the activities of the Boko Haram terrorist group in the northeast region of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the North-East Network for Peace had appreciated the president for visiting Maiduguri, the Borno state capital city.

The group said the president's visit to Borno shows his focus and unwavering commitment towards restoring lasting peace to the state and the entire northeast region.
