Bauchi governor congratulates Douye Diri on victory at Supreme Court

Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed has congratulated PDP candidate Senator Douye Diri and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on their victory at the Supreme Court on Thursday, February 13.

The Sun reports that Mohammed's message was disclosed in a statement through Lawal Muazu Bauchi, his special assistant on new media. The Bauchi governor is his message described Diri’s victory as a defining judgment and a triumph for the state of Bayelsa.

Mohammed who served as the chairman, Bayelsa Campaign Council in the 2019 governorship election, went on to ‪thank the family of PDP for giving him the opportunity to serve in that capacity.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Senator Duoye Diri reacted to his victory at the Supreme Court on Thursday, February 13. Diri who is a current senator representing Bayelsa Central senatorial district has departed for his inauguration which is to be held on Friday, February 14.

In a short post on his Facebook page, Diri wrote: In God we trust. Diri was declared the validly elected governor of the state by the apex court. The governor-elect had already started receiving visitors in his Abuja home.

In a related development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed hope for victory in Imo state following the ruling of the Supreme Court that sacked the governor-elect of Bayelsa, David Lyon, on Thursday, February 13.

Similarly, the presidential candidate of the PDP during the 2019 general election, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the Supreme Court's judgment that sacked former Bayelsa state governor-elect, David Lyon.

In a dramatic turn, the apex court sacked Lyon over alleged certificate forgery leveled against his running mate, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo. The Supreme Court had ruled that the offense committed by Degi-Eremieoyo affected the legitimacy of his joint ticket with Lyon.
