Kadpoly begins National Diploma in railway engineering technology

- Railway Engineering Technology will be studied as a new course in Kaduna state Polytechnic

- The course was approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on January 30

- Also, KadPoly management had sponsored ten (10) academic staff to Institute of Metro Railway Engineering, India in 2019

Kaduna state Polytechnic will commence a National Diploma in Railway Engineering Technology programme.

The institution's management on Monday, February 3, said the programme will commence in the 2019/2020 session following the approval granted by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on January 30.

A statement released by KadPoly's deputy registrar, information and protocol, Samuel Obochi, said the approval was a sequel to the positive reports of the resources inspection visitation team of NBTE.

Obochi said the team had inspected human and material resources in the polytechnic last year.

“With this development, Kaduna Polytechnic is the first higher institution in Nigeria to commence National Diploma (ND) programme in Railway Transportation Sector,” Obochi said.

The KadPoly management had sponsored ten (10) academic staff to Institute of Metro Railway Engineering, India in 2019.

The staff were trained in preparation for the take-off of the programme in the institution.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the governor of Kaduna state was the first governor in Nigeria to implement the N30,000 minimum wage for pensioners in the state.

The governor's spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye, said the governor shocked pensioners in the state as he increased their benefits from N3,000 to N30,000, saying that what most pensioners take home was unacceptable.
