Corruption Perception Index: Ghana named as one of Africa’s corrupt countries in 2019
- Ghana has been listed by Transparency International as one of the corrupt countries in the year 2019
- The African nation scored 41 per cent and was listed alongside countries such as Senegal, South Africa Seychelles and Cabo Verde
- The top two countries on the list were Seychelles with 66 per cent and Botswana with 61 per cent
The 2019 Corruption Perception Index released by Transparency International has listed Ghana as one of the corrupt countries in Africa in the year 2019.
With a score of 41 out of 100, the country was named along with South Africa, Senegal, Seychelles and others.
The chart shows Seychelles topping the table with a score of 66 per cent, Botswana following with 61 per cent, Cabo Verde coming third with 58 per cent and Rwanda placing fourth with 53 per cent.
Namibia and Mauritius were tied at the fifth position with 52 per cent, Sao Tome and Principe came seventh with 46 per cent and Senegal was placed eighth with 45 per cent.
Per a report by qz.com, South Africa and Ghana completed the top 10 list with 44 and 41 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Nigeria was ranked as the fourth most corrupt country in West Africa.
This was contained in the 2019 corruption perception index published by Transparency International.

The report showed that Nigeria is now ranked 146 out of the 180 countries considered.

Meanwhile, Nigerians in their reactions on social media have criticized the current government for being corrupt like all other past governments.
Oladipo Ajayi said: "Well Nigerians know this government is haven for corrupt people but Lai will still say something different."
Onyema Henry Polygon said: "These are people who don’t get deceived with APC propaganda. They see and say things the exact way."
Olaniyan Lawale: "Ehmm, waiting for those hopeless APC/buhari regime almajiri and meyitti allah followers to start shouting the news is sponsored by PDP looters as usual."
