The NCDC said that such viral reports and rumours were both false and unfounded and therefore called on Nigerians to completely disregard such.
The agency, however, admitted that there was a Chinese man who was put under close observation after his return from China recently but was confirmed free from the disease with none of the known symptoms.
The NCDC, in a statement released on Sunday, February 2, said: “The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control is aware of ongoing rumours of the importation of the Coronavirus to Nigeria."
It also said that to detect the spread of the disease, a laboratory testing platform has already been established in the country.
Moreover, the NCDC cautioned Nigerians to pay close attention to the public health advisory on the epidemic in the country, adding that travellers from China can immediately report to its communication centre if they so wish.
