Bruno Fernandes admits he had eyes on EPL move following United interest
- Man United are looking to sign Bruno Fernandes to add depth to their midfield
- The Portugal ace is also wanted in the La Liga by Barcelona
- But he looks set to join United after Sporting Lisbon reached a deal with the EPL giants
Sporting Lisbon skipper, Bruno Fernandes, has hinted he had his sights set on a move to the Premier League.
The admission comes just hours after Man United reportedly finally reached a deal with his club to sign him.
United faced the prospect of missing out on his services this January after refusing to meet Sporting's asking price.
However, having stepped up their bid on Tuesday, January 28, the Red Devils now stand a pole position of signing the highly-rated midfielder.
Metro UK reports Fernandes is expected to arrive in England on Wednesday, January 29, ahead of his medicals and finalization of his move to Old Trafford.
Local media in Portugal recently stopped the 25-year-old outside his house and asked if the Premier League was his preferred destination.
"It always was," he told Portuguese television station SIC.
But when asked about a move specifically to Man United, Bruno flatly declared: "Anything really."
Meanwhile, a move to Old Trafford would offer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer more depth in the midfield as his side battles to finish among the top four teams this season.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Bruno Fernandes's signing from sporting Lisbon could get over the line as Man United are set to complete a deal worth £67.8million.
The Premier League club and the Premiera League side have been dragging but a deal seems to be on the cards three days to the end of the January transfer window.
Legit.ng also reported that Sadio Mane is set to miss Liverpool's trip to the London Stadium to take on West ham in their outstanding Premier League match.
The Reds remain unbeaten this season and a win for Jurgen Klopp's side will see them go 19 points clear on top of the table.
Legit.ng added that FA Cup 5th Round draws were conducted and some interesting fixtures emerged as the oldest competition has taken another dimension.
Chelsea will square up against the winner of Liverpool and Shrewsbery Town in what promises to be a cracking contest at Stamford Bridge.
