Angelique Kidjo dedicates Grammy award to Burna Boy

Earlier on, Legit.ng reported the news of how Angélique Kidjo was announced the winner of the 2020 Grammy Award for Best World Music for her album Celia.

Taking the stage to accept the award for which she was nominated alongside Burna Boy, she gave a heart-melting acceptance speech in which she hailed the Nigerian music superstar for his musical talent.

Kidjo who started off her speech by dedicating the award to Burna Boy, stated that he is one of the African artistes changing the way Africa as a whole is perceived. Her speech was welcomed with huge applause from the audience.

She said: "Four years ago, on this stage, I was telling you that the new generation of artistes coming from Africa are gonna take you by storm. And the time has come. This is for Burna Boy. He is one of the artistes from Africa that is changing the way our continent is perceived and how African music has been the bedrock of every music."

Although Burna Boy did not emerge winner, many fans of the music stars flooded social media with reactions to his loss.
