The rift between Oshiomhole and Governor Godwin Obaseki who succeeded him as governor of Edo state heightened with a faction, calling for the APC national chairman's removal.

The court rejected an ex parte application filed by Mustapha Salihu who is the national vice chairman, northeast of the APC, Anselm Ojezua, a factional chairman of the party in Edo state, and others who are seeking to remove Oshiomhole from office.

Justice Danlami Zenchi ordered that the defendants (Oshiomhiole, APC and others) be put on notice before the motion is heard so as to ensure fair hearing in the matter.
