Boko Haram's ideology, merchandise of evil - Lalong mourns UNIMAID student

- Governor Lalong has condemned the killing of a 22-year-old Plateau state Biology student of the University of Maiduguri by the Islamic State West Africa Province

- The governor said the killing of Ropvil Dalyep, by members of a terrorist group as a heinous act

- According to the governor, the terrorists' narative must never be allowed to fester and cause disharmony among Nigerians

The Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong, on Thursday, January 23, described the gruesome killing of Ropvil Dalyep, by members of a terrorist group as a heinous act aimed at provoking sentiments which could lead to perceived hatred for people based on religion and origin.

The governor expressing sadness over the video on the killing of Dalyep, a 22-year-old Plateau state Biology student of the University of Maiduguri by the Islamic State West Africa Province said the narrative of the terrorists must never be allowed to fester and cause disharmony among Nigerians.

A statement by the governor's director of press and public affairs, Makut Macham, said the ideology of Boko Haram was not only misplaced but clearly merchandise of evil.

Commiserating with the family of Dalyep, Governor Lalong assured them of the support of the Plateau state government in their period of great distress.

He said the message being spread by the terrorists that Christians and citizens of Plateau were being targeted was most unfortunate and must be condemned.

Lalong said such move by the terrorists is another ploy to legitimise their evil enterprise.

He assured that Plateau state will continue to work with security agencies to ensure that those still under the captivity of the terrorist groups are released.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a terrorist group killed Dalep two weeks after he was abducted.

Dalyep's killing came days after Lawan Andimi, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), who was abducted by Boko Haram, has been killed by insurgents.

The insurgents abducted Reverend Andimi, in January when they attacked Michika local government area of Adamawa state where he worked as a pastor and was killed after reported negotiations to release the cleric broke down.
