FG issues travel advisory as deadly virus breaks out in China, kills 6
- A deadly virus, named Coronavirus, has broken out in China with six people dead and over 300 infected
- Following the development, Nigeria's airports authority has issued a travel advisory, urging all passengers and other airports users to comply with all quarantine procedures
- The agency gave the assurance that the Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed that facilities as the country's airports are adequate to prevent importation of the virus
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has on Wednesday, January 22, issued a travel advisory following the break out of a deadly virus called Coronavirus broke out in China.
The statement made available to Legit.ng called on passengers in the country and other airport users to comply with all quarantine procedures.
The federal agency added that the move is to protect passengers from the epidemic ravaging some countries as well as to prevent the spread of such communicable diseases into Nigeria.
Yakubu gave the assurance that the Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed that facilities as the country's airports are adequate to prevent importation of the virus.
She added that all the equipment and personnel used in combating the deadly Ebola virus in 2014 are still very much in place.
FAAN also urged all passengers to submit themselves for routine quarantine checks whenever they are asked to.
Legit.ng gathers that the deadly coronavirus recent broke out in China and has since killed six people, with over 300 also reported to have been infected.
The virus which is highly communicable has already spread to border countries such as Japan, Thailand and South Korea.

Meanwhile, Nigeria's minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika, has assured that the Akanu Ibiam International Airport would be ready and re-opened before the celebration of Easter in April 2020.
Sirika while speaking after an inspection of the Airport alongside the permanent secretary of the ministry of aviation and the managing director of FAAN, Captain Rabiu Yadudu, said the work being carried out at the airport was satisfactory.
Others present at the inspection of the airport were the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji, and some officials of the Enugu state government.
