Pastor Andimi: Council for Islamic affairs condemns killing of CAN chairman

The National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has condemned the killing of Pastor Lawan Andimi, the Adamawa state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) by Boko Haram insurgents.
NSCIA in a statement on Wednesday, January 22, through its spokesperson, Aselemi Ibrahim, described the killing as barbaric while stating that the terrorists were trying to incite Christians against Muslims in Nigeria, The Nation reports.

The revered Muslim body said it was shocked when it learnt that Boko Haram had killed Pastor Andimi. The council expressed its condolences to the immediate family of the pastor and the leadership and members of the leadership of CAN.
Meanwhile, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has claimed.that if there is one thing about the Boko Haram terrorist group currently causing security challenges in Nigeria, it is the fact that they are not categorised as part of the Islamic religion,
MURIC said what the sect members did with the killing of Lawan Andimi was, simply put, horrendous.
Ishaq Akintola, who heads MURIC, expressed sadness and said what the terrorists did to Andimi was not godly. In a statement issued and signed in Lagos on Wednesday, he said that anyone who kills innocent people does not represent Islam.
In another report, three-day fasting and prayers have been declared by the leadership of the CAN over the killing of the Adamawa state chairman of the association, Reverend Lawan Andimi.
Leadership reports that CAN in a statement on Tuesday, January 21, in Abuja, signed by its spokesperson, Evangelist Kwamkur Vondip, described the killing of Andimi as a sad occurrence.
The religious organisation stated that it made the best efforts to secure the release of the pastor but it was not possible because it didn’t have the military power to do so.
