- Mohammed said the sacking of Ihedioha was one of the reasons he was scared for his own

- The governor added that he was more scared knowing that his opponent had so much confidence ahead of the ruling

Amid the excitement with which he handled the Supreme Court's judgement that granted him victory as governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed has made a special confession.

Mohammed confessed that he was actually scared before the judgement was delivered on Monday, January 20.

The governor said his fear was heightened by the removal of Emeka Ihedioha, who, until recently, governed Imo state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor said he was scared that he would face same fate with Ihedioha since they were from same Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He added that fear doubled each time he realised that his opponent was so confident that the judgement would favour him.

“The Imo incident is one of such incidents that is a manifestation of a judicial process. It was a very painful outcome for me as a PDP member and as a friend to the former governor who was affected.

“It was something unexpected and I knew what happened to him could happen to anybody.

“Certainly it gave me some fears for the first time, thinking that maybe, the confidence expressed by my competitors had something to do with some assurances in some quarters somewhere, but I still had faith in God,” Mohammed said.

The governor said now that he is fully in charge, his administration is not making probe of his predecessor a priority. He said instead, his government wants the support of everyone in the state.

“Investigating the former governor is not what I have come to do, but if, in the course of governance, I find there is anywhere that the government or Bauchi people were shortchanged, I’m not going to let it go,” he added.
