Kakanda in a series of tweets on Sunday, January 19, said President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa boycotted the UK-Africa summit to "give attention to pressing domestic priorities".

"You see, you don’t just dodge your responsibilities and go abroad to listen to empty speeches while your country burns.

"No President of any serious country travels out when his country is on fire, and his people being killed mindlessly," he tweeted.

Kakanda, mentioning President Buhari's Twitter handle, by way of drawing the president's attention, added that his (Buhari's) South-African counterpart is also not attending the 2020 World Economic Forum Meeting.

He attributed Ramaphosa's decision to the criticism which greeted his recent trip to Egypt when South Africa was experiencing blackouts.
