Boko Haram attacks another community in Borno

- Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attack Mallam Bukaranti village in Konduga local government area of Borno state

- The insurgents carted away foodstuff and livestock from the village during the attack

- Residents reportedly escaped into the bush after vigilantes and hunters tipped them off before the invasion by the insurgents

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Monday morning, January 20, reportedly attacked Mallam Bukaranti village in Konduga local government area of Borno state.

Daily Trust reports that the insurgents who carried out the attacks at exactly 4.30am, carted away foodstuff and livestock from the village.

Residents told the newspaper that villagers escaped into the bush after the vigilantes and hunters tipped them off before the insurgents arrived at the village.

“My people just called me this morning that these evil people called Boko Haram came at exactly 4:30am and ransacked the whole village,” one source said.

The source said the insurgents stole hundreds of cows, sheep, goats and chickens from the village.

They looted and carted away foods stuff. The village is less than a kilometer to command school in Auno,” the credible source said.

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 residents have reportedly fled their homes in Auno community of Konduga local government area to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, following sustained attacks by Boko Haram insurgents along the Maiduguri/Damaturu Highway.

Daily Trust reports that the Villages within the locality have been facing constant attacks by insurgents despite the presence of several military checkpoints in the area. Residents said dozens of people were being killed and many others abducted on a daily basis.

The community leader pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to save them from the insurgents, noting that they voted for him to end the insurgency war.

In another report, residents in Borno, particularly those along Damaturu- Maiduguri road have cried out over the increased activities of Boko Haram in the state recently.

The residents said that the increased attacks came after the governor of the state, Babagana Zulum, alleged that soldiers were fond of extorting commuters, The Cable reports.
