Shehu Sani claims audiotapes EFCC presents against him were doctored
- Senator Shehu Sani has dared the EFCC to publish the purported audios that proved his alleged extortion of Sani Dauda, ASD Motors boss
- Sani's aide, Suleiman Ahmed, said Sani did not at any point beg the EFCC not to release the audios as being insinuated in some quarters
- The former lawmaker's aide also claimed that the audios had been doctored, saying Sani will present the authentic versions when his court trial begins
The embattled former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to publish the telephone conversation between him and his accuser, Alhaji Sani Dauda (ASD).
The Guardian reports that Sani also vowed to make the full audio conversation he had with Dauda public when his trial begins at the court.
The former lawmaker's aide, Suleiman Ahmed, claimed that the audio presented by the EFCC to prove Sani's alleged extortion of Dauda had been doctored.
Ahmed said there was nowhere in the audio conversation that indicated his principal was given money.
He explained that the $25,000 mentioned in the conversation was the amount Sani paid Dauda who is the chairman of ASD Motors for a Peugeot 508 he bought.
Legit.ng gathered that Ahmed said that Sani had presented his evidence of purchase to the EFCC, adding that the money was never a bribe given to Sani to bribe the Chief justice of Nigeria (CJN) or EFCC officials as alleged.
He also explained that part of the conversation Sani had with the ASD Motors boss was to get him to support his political ambition.
According to Ahmed, Sani has never at any point begged the EFCC not to take the audios presented to him by the EFCC to the media.
He insisted that the audios had been manipulated to indict Sani and damage his reputation while promising that an authentic full version of the audio conversations would be presented at the court when Sani's trial starts.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the EFCC had allegedly acquired incriminating audiotapes to boost its evidence in the allegations against Sani.
The tapes, which are 13 in number, contained conversations between Shehu Sani and his accuser, one Dauda.
The anti-graft agency was said to have played the tapes to the hearing of the ex-senator in the presence of his lawyers Audu Mohammed Lawal and Glory Peter on Wednesday, January 15.
The former federal lawmaker was reported to have confirmed that the voice on the tape was his but alleged that parts of the conversation had been erased.
