Northern governors pay condolence visit to Kogi governor's mother

- Hajia Hawawo Bello, mother of Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, received important visitors on Friday, January 17 over the recent death of her daughter

- Some northern governors visited the governor's mother to console her over her recent loss

- In her response, Hajia Hawawo thanked the governors for finding time to come to console her family

Members of the Northern Governors’ Forum on Friday, January 17, paid a condolence visit to Hajia Hawawo Bello, mother of the Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello over the recent death of her daughter.

Kebbi state governor, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, who is also the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor's Forum, said their visit was to console and sympathise with Hajiya Bello over the death of her daughter, Hajia Rabiat Bello whose sad demise took place on Monday, December 23, 2019, after a protracted illness.

He described the death of Hajia Rabiat Bello as "shocking and painful," especially given the difficulty for the aged mother to cope with such terrific loss of a daughter.

He prayed to God to grant her soul eternal rest and fortitude for the family to bear the irreparable loss.

On his part, the chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong expressed the sympathy of the forum to the family and prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He said the leadership of the Northern Governors’ Forum stands with Governor Bello and his family as they go through a difficult moment.

In her response, Hajia Hawawo thanked the governors for finding time to come to console her family.

She prayed to God to continue to grant the governors in Nigeria and President Muhammadu Buhari the wisdom, understanding and wherewithal to continue to provide the needed leadership for the country.

On his part, Governor Bello expressed profound gratitude to his colleague governors for standing by him as well as his family in their grieving moments.

Recall that the national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had also paid a condolence visit to Governor Bello.

Oshiomhole who met with Bello at the Government House, Lokoja on Monday, January 6, in the company of some of his aides, said he was in the state to sympathise with the governor over the recent loss in his family.

In a related development, Governor Bello has condoled with the family of Late Barrister Taiwo Kola Ojo, the Peoples Democratic Party's chairman in Kogi West senatorial district, who slumped and died while playing lawn tennis on Tuesday, January 7.

The governor in a statement sent to journalists by his chief press secretary, Onogwu Muhammed on Wednesday, January 8, described the death of Ojo as 'touching.'
