- The youths in the party said Waziri Bulama cannot replace Mai Mala Buni as the national secretary of the ruling party
- The youths also questioned the decision of the APC leadership to micro-zone the position of the APC national secretary to include Borno state
Youths of Yobe state have rejected the emergence of Waziri Bulama as the national secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The youth under the aegis of Yobe Youth Alliance for All Progressives Congres(APC) condemned the position of the party to micro-zone the position of the APC national secretary to include Borno state.
The Nation reports that the youth also accused the APC National Working Committee of not being fair to their state, Yobe.
While the seat of the party's national secretary has been vacant since the exit of Mai Mala Buni who is serving as the governor of Yobe state, the youth said the state will not be represented at the NWC if the position of the national secretary is given to Borno.
The chairman of the youth group, Mohammad Shehu while speaking to journalists in Damaturu said: “The constitution of our party in matters like this is clear, where all states of the federation are represented in the NWC of the party and I am sure Borno already have their representative among the party EXCOS and therefore we do not want to have a political crises among us."
Shehu said the decision of the ruling party on the matter is absolute injustice capable of bringing disunity among the party members.
He called the national working committee of the APC to correct the anomaly before crisis envelopes the party.
“Yobe has the mandate to produce the National Secretary as replacement of Mai Mala Buni to complete the remaining three years tenure of the elected position," Shehu said.
He also queried why the national leadership of the party under Adams Oshiomole has insisted that the position of the party’s scribe should remain in Yobe.
He also used the opportunity to inform the party that the state's chapter of the APC has already nominated a candidate that will succeed the now governor of Yobe state as national secretary.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Edo state chapter of the APC has called on Adams Oshiomhole, to quit parading himself as APC's national chairman.
