Ihedioha: Uzodinma's win a well-deserved victory - Buhari

- President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the victory of Governor Hope Uzodinma at the Supreme Court

- The president described the Supreme Court judgement as a well-deserved victory

- President Buhari also commended the Supreme Court for its "courage and perseverance” in the decision to return Uzodinma's mandate

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the judgement of the Supreme Court on the appeal against the victory of former Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha as a well-deserved victory” to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its gubernatorial candidate, Hope Uzodinma.

The president also commended the Supreme Court for its "courage and perseverance” in the decision to return Uzodinma's mandate.

A statement by Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesperson, quoted the president as saying: “The road to justice may be long and tortuous, but it is the best path for anyone aggrieved."

The president said that under the new administration, a new journey to build a new Imo with new energy is about to begin.

He also said in the outcome of the Supreme Court's ruling n this outcome, it is the people of Imo State who have emerged victorious.

President Buhari also congratulated Governor Uzodinma for his victory at the apex court while urging him to promote the ideals of the APC and unite the state by running an inclusive administration.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed shock over the judgement of the Supreme Court on the gubernatorial election in Imo state.

The party on Tuesday, January 14, said it wondered how Uzodinma who came fourth at the polls was declared the winner.

The PDP described the court's decision as another sad commentary on the nation’s democratic order, the party said Uzodimma came fourth in the March 9, 2019 governorship election.
