- El-Rufia said that he is very focused on delivering on the mandate that the masses have entrusted on him

Kaduna state governor, Nasir el Rufai, has said that around 10 people have shown interest to succeed him come 2023 after the expiration of his tenure.

He made this known just after he denied the rumor that he had handpicked one of those who are coveting the highest executive post, Nigerian Tribune reports.

The governor, during a phone-in programme on Friday night, January 10, said that only God gives power to whoever he chooses.

El Rufai said that it is everybody’s constitutional right to aspire towards the post, it is quite early to start having that ambition, as he had just spent a year.

“Even though everyone has the right to aspire as long as he meets the constitutional requirements but it is to early to start aspiring for the plum office.

“We were given the mandate to administer the state for the next four years and we have not spent even one year and people have started coming out to aspire. To me, this is not only a distraction but a disservice to the people who voted us,” he said.

The governor also said that he called for a stakeholders meeting warned people who work with him to be careful as he will deal with whoever does not take their work seriously.
