Hardware
Here is a look at the device’s hardware features.
Design
The device’s design is slightly similar to the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G upon which it is based. There is an optical fingerprint reader positioned under the display which happens to be impressively fast. A 6.67-inch display occupies most of the front while a triple-camera module is the main feature at the back. The back also features some Papaya Orange highlights which set the phone apart from the standard 7T.
The glass on the back features a cool textured finish similar to what is found on McLaren steering wheels. The camera module is surrounded by an orange strip with additional strips found at the bottom of the device as well as on the function slider. The look of the device’s back changes subtly in different lighting conditions. A fabric-wrapped cable and 30W charger are among the included OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren accessories that come with the phone.
Display
The phone features a fantastic 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. There are barely any bezels surrounding the display, which creates a fantastic viewing experience. Unlike some phones which have notches for the selfie camera, this device features a motorized pop-up camera that gets out of the user’s view when not in use.
Additionally, the phone’s screen features a 90 Hz refresh rate which can be left active at all times. The 88.1% screen-to-body ratio is among the best in the industry.
Processor, storage, and performance
The phone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with 12 gigabytes of RAM. This is sufficient for virtually all tasks thrown at it. The device comes with 256GB ROM, which is more than enough for the average user. However, the lack of a memory expansion slot might be a deal-breaker for heavy users.
Battery life
A 4,085 mAh non-removable battery powers the device. The unit is sufficient for an entire day of mixed usage ranging from web browsing to calling and watching video clips. The phone supports 30W fast charging which the company refers to as Warp Charge. The included fast charger charges a depleted battery from zero to 60 percent in 30 minutes.
Speaker and call quality
Making calls on the device is a great experience, primarily due to the inclusion of the active noise cancellation feature. Both ends of a call sound clear even in noisy environments.
Software
Here are the device’s software features.
Operating system and features
The device comes pre-installed with the latest Android version (Android 10) overlaid with OnePlus’s custom OxygenOS skin. The device will also ship with the November 1, 2019, security update on the operating system. There is no information regarding a possible upgrade to the next Android version once it is released. There are also numerous customization options available as part of the McLaren software package.
Camera, video, and image quality
The phone features a triple-camera setup at the back and a single selfie camera on the front. The primary camera includes a 48-megapixel primary lens, 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren camera review shows that images from the camera are amazingly sharp, detailed, and with perfect focus, exposure and colour reproduction.

Verdict
The OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren is a terrific device with excellent value for money. OnePlus is consistently challenging industry leaders with well-priced flagship devices. The fast battery charging, powerful processor and excellent display are arguably the best features of the device.
One would be hard-pressed to find a better device at a price point similar to that of the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren. Similar devices from companies such as Apple, Huawei and Samsung cost relatively more. The excellent camera, build quality and massive RAM should be enough to lure potential buyers to the device.
