In the spirit of the season, the governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has declared free bus ride as part of his Chrsitmas gift to commutters in the state.

The gesture by Sanwo is to ease the stress and pain of Lagosians often faced on some of the major roads in the state especially during public holidays, Vanguard reports.

This was revealed on Wednesday, December 25, by the assistant director, corporate communication of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Kolawole Ojelabi.

Ojelabi explained that key bus operators like Primero Transport Services Limited (PTSL) and Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) will run services on their routes free of charge.

He said that PTSL will run Ikorodu - TBS, Ikorodu - Oshodi, Yaba - Oyingbo and Ikorodu - Ikeja.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Sanwo-Olu had urged residents of the state to exercise patience over the slow rate of repairs on the bad roads across the metropolitan city.

He made the appeal during a question and answer session at an independence day event called 'The Platform' at Iganmu area of Lagos.

The governor assured that work would begin in earnest on the roads once the current heavy rainfall stops.

The rains, he noted, has been falling since he was sworn into office earlier this year. The governor also warned that not all of the roads would be repaired at the same.
