Nigerian Army approves new postings and appointments

- The Nigerian Army has announced the new postings and appointments of some of its senior officers

- The appointments which have been approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai, take immediate effect

- Buratai wished all the newly promoted officers well in their respective appointments just as he charged them to take their new responsibilities seriously

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai, has approved the new postings and appointments of some senior officers in the Nigerian Army to the new ranks.

Colonel Sagir Musa, the acting director of Army public relations, made this known in a statement made available on Monday, December 16, adding that all the appointments take immediate effect.

With the new postings, Maj Gen EO Ogunkale from Command Army Record Lokoja has been redeployed to Defence Headquarters as Chief of Defence Standards and Evaluation.

Maj Gen AO Uthman from Nigerian Army School of Signals, Apapa, Lagos is also affected as he has been redeployed to Defence Headquarters as Director Defence Communications.

Maj Gen OO Soleye from Defence Headquarters is now the commander of the Headquarters Command Army Record Lokoja.

Maj Gen YI Shalangwa who is the former director of legal services 'Army' has now been redeployed to Defence Headquarters as director of legal services.

Maj Gen DC Onyemulu from Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Oshodi, Lagos is now the director of Armed Forces Simulation Centre while Maj Gen HI Bature is redeployed from Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command, Minna to Defence Headquarters and appointed Director Liaison.

Also, Maj Gen IM Obot remains at Nigerian Army Resource Centre as Participant Senior Executive Management and Policy Course.

Similarly, Maj Gen BO Sawyer remains in Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans as Director Plans.

Maj Gen LA Adegboye, the acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division is to remain as GOC 82 Division while Maj Gen MA Masanawa from Army Central Ammunition Depot is redeployed to Defence Headquarters and appointed as Director Innovation and Combat Development.

Similarly, Maj Gen G Oyefesobi from Defence Intelligence Agency has been redeployed to Headquarters of the recently created Nigerian Army Special Forces Corps as Commander.

Maj Gen MM Bunza who is the former Commandant of the Nigerian Military School Zaria has also been redeployed to Nigerian Army Education Corps as Corps Commander Education.

Maj Gen DH Ali-Keffi from Nigerian Army School of Infantry Jaji is now deployed to Defence Intelligence Agency and appointed Director of Administration.

Maj Gen GO Adesina has also been deployed from Army Headquarters Department of Army Policy and Plans to Nigerian Army Signals School Apapa, Lagos as Commandant while Maj Gen PE Eromosele from National Defence College Abuja is redeployed to Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering Makurdi as Commandant.

Also, Maj Gen KO Aligbe from Defence Headquarters Abuja has been posted to Nigerian Army School of Infantry Jaji and appointed Commandant while Maj Gen AB Ibrahim remains in Army Headquarters and appointed Director Training.

Maj Gen GK Nwosu equally remains in Nigerian Army Special Forces School Buniyadi as Commandant just as Maj Gen FB Fakrogha remains in Nigerian Army Women Corps as Commander Women Corps.

Maj Gen S Idris from Defence Headquarters is heading to Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership Peace Keeping Centre with his new appointment as a Commandant.

Similarly, Brig-Gen JC Ogbonna from Headquarters 81 Division has been sent to Headquarters 82 Division and appointed as Division's Training Officer.

Brig Gen BH Mohammed from Headquarters Nigerian Army Education Corps has also been transferred to Nigerian Military School Zaria as Commandant while Brig Gen GO Omorogbe from Headquarters 4 Brigade Benin is now at Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre Jaji as Chief of Staff.

Brig Gen AJ Fagge from Defence Space Agency has been posted to the Ministry of Defence and appointed as Principal General Staff Officer to the honourable minister of defence.

Brig Gen NI Najaja who is from 6 Military Intelligence Brigade Portharcourt has been posted to Open Source Intelligence Command as Commander while Brig Gen AO Quadri from Headquarters 81 Division Lagos is now heading to Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command Minna as Director Training.

Also, Brig Gen FG Dimlong from 105 Division's Equipment Support (DES) is now posted to 101 DES and appointed Commander while Brig Gen M Danmadami from Headquarters 3 Division Jos is transferred to the Office of the Chief of Army Staff as Ag Director Procurement.

Brig Gen OJ Akpor from 1 Division Garrison Kaduna has been posted to the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna and appointed as the director of Military Training.

Also, Brig Gen BU Yahaiya from the Ministry of Defence has been posted to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre Abuja and appointed as Subject Expert South East Asia.

Brig Gen IM Jallo from Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna has been transferred to 4 Brigade Benin as a commander while Brig Gen HE Akpan from Army War College is to report at the Directorate of Army Recruitment, Resettlement and Reserve as Commander.

Brig Gen O Nwachukwu is to remain in Defence Headquarters as Ag Director Defence Information while Brig Gen MK Gara from Army Headquarters Department of Training and Operations is posted to 8 Division Garrison as Commander.

Brig Gen MU Wambai from SI List (SEC 41) has been posted to the Headquarters Directorate of Legal Services as Acting Director Legal Services among others.

Meanwhile, Buratai wished all the newly promoted officers well in their respective appointments just as he charged them to take their new responsibilities seriously.

The Army chief also called on the senior officers to discharge their duties professionally with utmost loyalty to the service and the nation.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian Army said the video allegedly released recently by the Boko Haram group was doctored and never emanated from the terrorist organisation.

The army said the video was fabricated by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The video had shown the alleged capture and killing of some security operatives in the northeastern part of Nigeria by the insurgents.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, December 3, urged all troops of the Nigerian Army to continue to respect the rule of law and fundamental human rights of all citizens across the country.

The president, while at the annual Chief of Army Staff Conference in Kaduna state, urged the soldiers to keep to the rules of engagement and international code of conduct at all times.

President Buhari, a retired army general, also commended the Nigerian Army for its efforts in ensuring that the country is kept safe from all forms of terrorism and attacks.
