Ortom says he intends to meet Buhari over plans to withdraw military operating in Benue

Concerned by reports that the military operation whirl stroke may be withdrawn from Benue on the account that peace has been restored in the state, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has disclosed that he plans to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the issue.

The governor made the disclosure on Sunday, December 15, through a statement by his spokesman, Terver Akase, Daily Trust reports.

Ortom stated that though the military operation has brought relative peace in troubled parts of the state, he noted that there were still some areas of the state that need security attention.

H said the commitment and professionalism displayed by the officers and men of operation whirl stroke have yielded results in the fight against insecurity in Benue state.

Ortom expressed the readiness of his administration to continue to provide support for security agencies operating in the state to enable them to succeed.

He urged all irrespective of where they are coming from to respect the Benue’s Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law. He said those who violate the legislation would be sanctioned according to its provisions.

Meanwhile, the new national security roadmap tagged Restoring Security to Nigeria was on Wednesday, December 4, launched by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The ceremony took place at the Aso Rock chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting was held, The Nation reports.
