Tinubu tells leaders to handover vibrant nation to young Nigerians

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has urged leaders to govern with a view to handing over a vibrant and strengthened nation to young Nigerians

Tinubu made the statement after he was conferred with an honorary degree of humane letters by Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger state, The Tribune reports.

The APC chieftain said the true greatness of Nigeria rests on the youths. He noted that the youths need to be equipped through education entrenched on innovation and new technology to carry out their roles in society.

He advised higher institutions in the country to embrace innovation and new technology as a means of equipping youths for progress in the 21st Century.

“Education is the light of a nation, the lamp that helps us see where we are, and the path we must take to realise our greatness. To educate a generation is to secure that path and that greatness, Tinubu said.

He urged Nigerians to work individually and collectively in ensuring that the affairs of the country are directed in a way that will allow the hand over of a vibrant and strengthened nation to young leaders.

In another report, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, the chairman of the APC in Ogun state has said that the southwest must produce Nigeria's next president.

Famodun said that although the constitution of the APC at the national level has no provision for rotation, commonsense is there for all to see that it is now the turn of the geopolitical region to take over leadership of the country, Daily Trust reports.

He admitted that he will not be happy if the north retains power after Buhari's tenure expires in 2023.
