There is a crisis brewing between the Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike and his Bayelsa state counterpart, Seriake Dickson, over an alleged plan by the latter to take over some oil resources reportedly belonging to Rivers state.

The Nation reports that Wike on Thursday, December 12, accused Dickson of plotting to hijack some oil wells belonging to River state.

The Rivers state governor, however, restated his commitment to reclaiming the oil wells in question, saying the matter is already in court.

Wike further accused Dickson of causing disunity in Rivers state by visiting the Amanyanabo of Kalabari, King Theophilus J.T. Princewill, without observing due protocol.

Legit.ng gathers that the Rivers state governor made these known when he received the people of Kalabari at the government house.

He warned the monarch against allowing himself to be used by the governor of Bayelsa state to promote disunity.

Governor Wike warned the monarch that he would be sanctioned if he receives the Bayelsa state governor again without due protocol.

Wike noted that the Bayelsa governor visited the state without getting in touch with the relevant authorities.

Legit.ng gathers that King Princewill is the father of Prince Tonye Princewill, a former governorship candidate and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the development, Princewill said he saw no reason why Governor Wike would threaten his father for receiving in his palace Governor Dickson who is a fellow Ijaw man.

The Bayelsa state government has also not responded to Wike’s allegations as at the time of filing this report.
