A world champion and bodybuilder, Nataliya Kuznetsova, has said that she does not mind if her husband’s biceps are smaller, saying all that matters is their love for each other.
Daily Mail reports that the 28-year-old hails from Chita in the south-eastern Russian region and started hitting the gym at the teenage age of 14.
Her father thought that building her body would help with her low self-esteem as he said she was a “timid little mouse” as a child.
She corroborated her father’s description in an interview, saying she was indeed very timid when growing up.
During her teenage years, she said she weighed around 40kg compared to the 90kg that she now carries.
Kuznetsova said she began going to the gym just like everyone when she was a kid until her trainer asked her if she would like to perform in a bodybuilding competition.
“Just like everyone else, I first went to the gym without the desired goal, but after three months my trainer asked me if I wanted to take part in a bodybuilding competition. By the age of 15, I was the champion of the region of Zabaykalsky Krai,” she said.
She participated in Manon Lesko production at the Bolshoi Theatre which featured popular Russian-Austrian opera star Anna Netreko.
The powerlifter was the 2014 World champion for arm lifting and the same year won the bench pressing category, setting world records.
