Jose Mourinho got his reign as Tottenham Hotspur head coach on a winning note following his side's 3-2 win over West Ham United at the London Stadium.

The Portuguese who took over at the club earlier this week after the sack of former handler Mauricio Pochettino.

Son Heung-min opened scoring through a superb shot for Spurs from close range in the 36th minute after connecting with Dele Alli's pass.

It was a perfect start for the new boss in town as Lucas Moura doubled their lead just two minutes before half time.

Son, who scored the first goal provided the assist for their second goal as they headed into the dressing room with a two-goal advantage.

On return to the pitch for the remainder of the fixture, Harry Kane got his name on the scores sheet in the 49th minute to put in a comfortable position.

The Englishman headed home his side's third after making a run into West Ham's 18-yard box after connecting with Serge Aurier's cross from the right flank.

It also looked like Mourinho was going to keep a clean sheet in his first match but Michail Antonio reduced the home team's deficit in the 73rd minute.

Declan Rice got a late goal for the Hammers towards the end of the match but VAR chopped off the goal for offside.

With seconds to the end of the extra minutes, Angelo Ogbonna tapped in a goal to ensure they finished 3-2 at the end of the game.

Spurs have now moved to sixth on the log after this victory but their stay in that position will be determined by other teams' results.
