Ihedioha says Court of Appeal ruling vindicates his victory as Imo governor

Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo state has described the Court of Appeal ruling which affirmed his election as a vindication of the mandate delivered to him by the people of the state.
The Imo state governor speaking on Tuesday, November 19, shortly after a five-man panel of the appellate court led by Justice Oyebisi Omoleye affirmed his victory, said the verdict of the court is a reaffirmation of confidence on Nigeria’s judicial system, Channels TV reports.
“The learned justices once again vindicated the mandate delivered to us by the good people of Imo State. We also tender our gratitude to the good people of Imo State, the PDP party faithful and our teeming supporters for your prayers, solidarity, and faith all through the process of the election petitions tribunal hearings and subsequent appeal. Their judgement today has reaffirmed our confidence in our judicial system, “ he said.
Ihedioha, who stated that his focus remained on rebuilding Imo, said he bears no ill against those with different political leanings who challenged the mandate freely given to him by the people of Imo state.
The governor invited those who may share different political views to join him in his efforts to rebuild the state.

“While I affirm that the effort is a collective one, I am not unmindful that there would be opposition on our path. But with God on our side, we shall rise above every mountain of antagonism, overcome layers of impediments and cross every Rubicon to deliver to our people quality infrastructure, functional welfare amenities and a prosperous economy," Ihedioha said.
He said the court judgement has strengthened his resolve to be guided by his electioneering campaigns, of standing firmly on the rule of law.
Legit.ng had reported that the Court Appeal sitting in Abuja had affirmed Emeka Ihedioha’s victory as the duly elected governor of Imo state.
The court delivered the judgment on Tuesday, November 19 following an appeal filed by the Action Alliance (AA), All Progressive Grand Alliance and the All Progressive Congress (APC) challenging the election of Ihedioha.
The court led by Justice Oyebisi Omoleye however, dismissed the cases and affirmed Ihedioha's election as Imo state governor.
