Kogi elections: Melaye releases alleged proof of APC thugs rigging senatorial rerun

- Melaye has claimed that APC invaded his village during the Kogi West senatorial election

- To prove his point, Melaye released some video clips

- In the video, a gun wielding man could be seen invading a polling centre

Dino Melaye has released videos to show that the election conducted by the Independent National Electoral (INEC) to fill the vacant Kogi West senatorial seat on Saturday, November 16, was rigged.

One of the videos released by the outspoken Melaye on his Twitter page shows men with gun invading a voting centre with guns and destroying the ballet boxes.

In another video, someone could be heard lamenting that a helicopter was used to disperse voters while some hired men came to ransack the centre with guns.

The speaker in the video also presented live bullets. According to him, some voters were injured and had to be rushed to hospitals.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that INEC declared the election held to fill the vacant Kogi West senatorial district as inconclusive.

INEC made the decision on the grounds that the lead margin between Smart Adeyemi who polled 80,118 votes and Dino Melaye who got 59,548 is 20,570 was lower than the 43,127 registered voters in 53 polling units of 20 registration areas in the zone.

The returning officer, Professor Olayinde Lawal, who made the declaration, said the law does not permit him to declare a winner because of the lead margin between the leading candidates.
