Bayelsa election: Meet the top 2 candidates

In the next three days, people of Bayelsa state will troop to the polling centres to elect a new chief executive that will take over from Seriake Henry Dickson as governor.
According to the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the election, 45 candidates from different political parties will vie for the highest position in the state come Saturday, November 16.
To this end and to keep you abreast of things, Legit.ng in this report presents to you the top two candidates going to the polls.
However, Legit.ng also wants you to understand that none of the candidate - those whose names are not included - is being written off as a result of this report.

David Lyon (APC)
Chief David Lyon is a politician, oil magnate, and businessman. He was born on December 20, 1970, in Olugbobiri Community in Olodiama clan of Southern Ijaw local government area, Bayelsa state. He is 49 years old going to the election.
He attended Saint Gabriel’s State School Olugbobiri, from 1978 to 1983, and community secondary school, Olugbobiri, from 1984 to 1988.
After this, he proceeded to Rivers State College of Education for his National Certificate of Education (NCE).
Douye Diri (PDP)
Douye Diri is the senator representing Bayelsa Central senatorial district of Bayelsa state at the Nigerian 9th National Assembly.
He was born on June 4, 1959 in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa state. As at the time of this election, he is aged 60 years old. He bagged his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1977 at Rev. Proctor Memorial Primary School Kaima (then State school Kaima).
He also obtained his West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASCE) at government secondary school Odi in 1981.
Diri bagged Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) at the College of Education in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state in 1985 and his Bachelors of Education degree in Political Science at the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers state in 1990.
He is a teacher who taught in several government schools. He held many positions in politics and outside politics.

No fewer than 42 candidates signed the peace pact to ensure violence free elections in Bayelsa.
