Nigeria vs Netherlands: Fans blast Eaglets for dismal performance against the Dutch

- Nigerians have gone on social media to express dissatisfaction at the team's performance

Nigeria vs Netherlands game did not end well for the Golden Eaglets after losing by 3-1 courtesy of a Sontje Hansen's hat-trick.

Nigerians were not happy with the performance of the five-time world champions and have also complained about staying up late to watch their disastrous outing.

The match started 12am on Wednesday, November 6, (Nigerian time) and one fan blamed the defensive arrangement of the Nigerian side inside the 18-yard box in one of the moves that led to the goal.

"What sort of defensive structure is this by the Eaglets please?"

Another added: "This is the worst Nigeria U17 team I've seen in the last 15 years."

"Stayed up this late to watch your boys play nonsense and I have to be in the office by 9am. May God judge you this inexperienced piece of sh*t.," the third fan said.

"This useless boys have started. I didn't stay up for this nonsense," another said.

A fifth supporter said: "This disasterclass Manu Garba and his Eaglets are displaying ain't for me."

Another added: "King of comebacks but now they are coming back home."

The Golden Eaglets have comeback from behind to win their first two matches but their spirited-fight back was not forthcoming against Australia and the Netherlands.

After just four minutes played, Hansen put the Dutch ahead with a neat passing game before Olakunle Olusegun leveled matters in the 12th minute.

Three minutes later Hansen was on hand again to score the second as the Nigerian defence were cut open for the second time.

The Golden Eaglets' ability to score goals have been a major problem at the World Cup despite dominating possession.

After several futile attempts on goal the Netherlands won a penalty in the 80th minute and Hansen sealed qualification for the Europeans who made it into the last 16 with two losses and a win in the group stage.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Nigeria is the most successful football national team at U17 level, winning five editions of FIFA staged competitions and first country to win the tournament, since its inception in 1985.

These youngsters have gone on to represent the senior national team and became regulars at some point in their careers.
