El-Rufai orders payment of teachers’ arrears this week

- The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufa'i, has ensured that the salaries of teachers being owned must be paid

- The information was made known in a statement that issued on Saturday, November 3, after a meeting with relevant stakeholders

- According to the press release, the teachers' arrears are in the tune of N1.8 billion

The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, has taken step to ensure that owned salaries of about 8,500 primary teachers out of the 39,000 are paid this new week.

This was made known in a statement issued by the special adviser on media and communication, Muyiwa Adekeye, on Saturday, November 2, where the governor also showed great displeasure over the situation, Daily Trust reports.

A part of the official statement said that after a meeting with the ministry of local government, it was established that 23 local government council owed second-batch teachers around N1.8 billion payment.

“After briefings from the ministry of Local government and SUBEB, the state government has established that the 23 local government councils owe second-batch teachers about N1.8bn in payments for January to May 2019,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a political group under the aegis of Nasiriyya Organisation Support Group (NOSG), opened a campaign office in Jos, Plateau state to kick-start the presidential campaign of Governor Nasir El-rufai ahead of 2023.

Speaking at the opening, the NOSG’s national chairman, Ibrahim Garkuwan-Rijau, said the group decided to commence putting structures across Nigeria at an early stage to enable them fully drive their quest to success.
