Russia to support construction of 1,400km rail track from Lagos to Calabar - Presidency

- The agreement was reached during a bilateral meeting between President Vladimir Putin and President Buhari in Sochi, Russia
- The two leaders also discussed the advancement of the establishment of a nuclear power plant in Nigeria
The Russian government has promised to support Nigeria in the construction of a 1,400-kilometre rail track from Lagos to Calabar.
This was made known by Garba Shehu, a media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, October 23.
Shehu in a series of tweet said the development was reached in one of the agreements between President Buhari and his Russian colleague, Vladimir Putin.
According to Shehu the meeting between the two heads of nations was a bilateral one held on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Summit, in Sochi.
He also said that Presidents Buhari and Putin discussed the advancement of the establishment of a nuclear power plant in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Buhari departed Nigeria to Sochi Russia on Monday, October 21.
The president was received in Sochi for the Africa-Russia summit by the mayor of Sochi, Anatoliy Nikolayevich Pakhomov and state officials of Russia.
