NAF decorates first female fighter pilot, helicopter pilot, warrant officer
- Three Nigerian ladies will make history on Tuesday, October 15 when they are winged by the leadership of NAF in a decoration ceremony in Abuja
- The trio emerged the first females to achieve the feats they have in their respective fields within the Nigerian Armed Forces
- The officers will be decorated alongside ten others who recently completed their flying training
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to make history on Tuesday, October 15 when it decorates 13 young officers who have completed their training with wings.
Out of the 13, three female officers will make history after having achieved what others have not in their respective fields.
The trio are
1. Flying Officer Kafayat Sanni, who is NAF's first female fighter pilot
2. Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, who is NAF's first female helicopter pilot
3. Grace Garba, who is first airwoman to attain rank of Air Warrant Officer
The decoration ceremony will take place at NAF headquarters in Abuja, the federal capital territory.
NAF confirmed the ceremony in a brief statement which was accompanied by a video of the history-making ladies on its official social media accounts.

Legit.ng had reported earlier that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, approved the promotion of Master Warrant Officer, Grace Garba, to the exalted rank of Air Warrant Officer.

NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, announced the promotion in a statement on Independence Day, Tuesday, October 1, in Abuja.
He said with the promotion, Garba becomes the first female Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, to be promoted to the highest rank in the Non-Commissioned Officers’ cadre in the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
