Osinbajo departs for Oslo following FEC meeting
- VP Yemi Osinbjo has departed the country for Oslo, Norway to attend the Nordic-Africa Business Summit

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s vice president, departed the country for Oslo, Norway on Monday, October 7 to attend the Nordic-Africa Business Summit holding this week, in a bid to mobilise foreign investment.
A statement sent in by the VP’s aide, Laolu Akande, disclosed that Osinbajo would be honouring a personal invitation from Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway, Daily Trust reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the event is being organized to give particular prominence to trade and investment ties between Africa and the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and will take place from Monday to Wednesday, October 9.
The statement read in part: “In pursuit of the Buhari administration’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), especially regarding the active mobilization of foreign investment, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will be honouring a personal invitation of the prime minister of Norway, Erna Solberg, to attend the Nordic-African Business Summit in Oslo this week.
“The invitation is a long-standing one and the event, holding from Monday to Wednesday, is being organized to give particular prominence to trade and investment ties between Africa and the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
“The summit will attract the largest Nordic companies doing business or interested in doing business in Nigeria, with interests in agriculture, light manufacturing, transportation, digital technology and entertainment, oil and gas, and renewable energy.
“Specifically, Prof Osinbajo would, among other critical issues, be speaking on the strides made by the Buhari administration in improving the economy and human capital development.
“The vice president will also headline a specific Nigeria-focused investment roundtable, which is expected to lead to increased trade and investment into Nigeria by building confidence about business prospects in the country and its role as an economic gateway into Africa.”
Osinbajo would also hold a bilateral meeting with PM Solberg during the trip to discuss issues of mutual interest to Nigeria and Norway.
Osinbajo left Abuja, the nation’s capital, after attending the Extraordinary Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa.
He is expected to return to the country on Thursday, October 10.

The vice president said this at the 59th Independence Anniversary lecture at the Island Club in Ikoyi on Friday, October 4.
The vice president said with the country’s population and diverse ethnicity, states needed to be strengthened more so they can also contribute to national development.
