- The former governor Mohammed Abubakar challenged the victory of Bala Mohammed
- The former governor claimed over-voting took place in some polling units
The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Bauchi state is set to deliver its judgement in the petition filed by former governor Mohammed Abubakar.
The former governor of the state and candidate of the All Progressives Congress was defeated by Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 election.
Abubakar filed a petition in April saying the Independent National Electoral Commission should not have declared Mohammed as winner of the election.
Channels TV reports that the tribunal is set to give its verdict on Monday, October 7.
The former governor claimed there was over-voting and non-compliance in some polling units and asked the tribunal to cancel votes in some polling unit.
The counsel to the petitioner had asked the tribunal to declare the former governor winner of the election.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that following his victory at the tribunal, Nyesom Wike of Rivers had made jest of the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Victor Fingesi, who challenged his emergence as governor after the last governorship election in the state.
