Security tightened as tribunal delivers judgment in Jime, Ortom case

- There is heavy security in Benue ahead of the verdict of the election petition tribunal in the state

- The tribunal is to deliver its judgment in the case between Governor Samuel Ortom and Emmanuel Jime, his rival

- A lot of security officers were seen patrolling major roads and streets of Makurdi to subdue possible chaos and violent uproar

Ahead of the verdict of the election petition tribunal in Makurdi, Benue between the case of Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Governor Samuel Ortom, security has been beefed up in the state.

The judgement of the tribunal is to be delivered on Monday, October 7, following the opposition of Ortom's gubernatorial victory by Jime.

Security officers were on Monday seen along the Kashim Ibrahim Road, near the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) command of the state, the venue of the tribunal, The Nation reports.

The pronounced presence of armed security personnel is aimed at preventing the possible breakdown of order after the tribunal's decision is announced.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that following his victory at the tribunal, Nyesom Wike of Rivers had made jest of the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Victor Fingesi, who challenge his emergence as governor after the last governorship election in the state.

Wike said that the result of the last election proved the large-scale support from indigenes and residents in the state for him.
